Don't trust their vehicles. Have them checked by your own mechanic. I found a 2012 Jeep online that I liked. Called them, put a 500.00 deposit on it to hold it till I could drive from New Orleans to Mobile the next morning. When I got there, the vehicle looked perfect. The top of the engine was spotless and the only thing wrong was a small cut in one of the rear leather seats. Then we test drove it. While stopped at a red light it died twice. This made me more curious about the vehicles condition so I looked under it. Sure enough, the undercarriage had built up and fresh oil on it. We went back to the dealership and they put it on a rack so we could see under it with one of their mechanics that was very smart and knew what he was talking about. He told them it needed a new oil pan gasket because it was leaking all the way around, and the rear transmission seal was also leaking. The salesman came back and advised me they could \Take a couple hundred dollars off\ to offset the repairs. I had already called a friend at the Dodge Dealership in New Orleans. The minimum cost to do both of those repairs was 1800.00. We told them to take 2,000.00 off and they said they couldn't do that. It also had an open Safety Recall on it. Bottom line.... We have bought from dealers before but I have to say Mullinax has been the best experience. Honest and competitive pricing for used vehicles without all the extra fees and paperwork. Ask for Margaret, she’s been working in the industry for awhile and knows her vehicles. Upfront about vehicle we were looking at, put a deposit, and requested some work on the vehicle to be attended to before buying. Checked our vehicle before final purchase and they attended to our requests. Happy to have our new to us vehicle. Great customer service and overall experience.
Went through hours of negotiating a vehicle i was planning to purchase, got to financing and submitted my credit check when they came back to give me numbers they told me they sold the car. They sold the car i just spent all day negotiating and working a deal on. They had me fill out a credit check and everything then sell it out from under me, sales guy Blayde did nothing to help this or really even apologize. I'd stay away from this dealer and this salesman. Giant waste of time and took a hit on credit for nothing.
I purchased a Ford Ranger Super Cab from Mullinax Ford of Mobile and it was a great experience. I save thousands off the MSRP and more due to the State of Alabama tax laws. The key to it all was finding the right sales agent at the right dealership. My agent Mr. Derek Montalvo (Monty) helped me throughout the process. First, I was able to purchase the vehicle at the no hassle advertised price. No extra dealer fees or addons. Second, I was able to purchase a Ford Courtesy Vehicle with only 1228 miles and saved thousands. Since, I am California resident I wanted the truck shipped to me and Monty suggested that I arrange for shipping myself (I did and save about 1000 dollars paying only 959.00 to ship it to me over 1960 miles, that is less than 50 cents a mile). Then working with front office finance officer Ms. Stacy Jay, I was able to save 6 percent sales tax on the purchase (California charges 8 percent and Alabama only charges 2 percent) that saved me an additional 1710 in sales tax. So, by purchasing from Mullinax Ford of Mobile I was able to save on the purchase price and the sales tax (saving two ways on the same transaction). Moral of the story, if you’re out state and Mullinax Ford of Mobile has your vehicle at your price . . . buy it (and just ask for “Monty” because he has the experience to help you through the “out of state” process).
